Directed by Claire Bergey ’19
November 3-5 in the Adams Memorial Theatre
“Madame will wear the red dress.”
Jean Genet’s The Maids teeters on the knife’s edge between existentialist drama and sadomasochistic fantasy, surreal composure and eleventh-hour desperation, structure and effluvium. In one room, one act, and one evening, the maids turn and overturn their dominance—Madame willing or not. A play on power directed and with scenic design by Claire Bergey, lighting design by Gabe Wexler, costume design by Neftaly Lara, and sound design by Scott Daniel.
