
The Cap & Bells board’s term of office runs from April, when open elections are held, until the end of the following school year. All general members of Cap & Bells are welcome to vote at the election. Any member may run for office by attending the election meeting and nominating himself or herself for a maximum of two positions. Students who are not currently on campus but who will be on campus for the following academic year may submit self-nominations by e-mail to the Board if they wish to run for a position.
Here is more information about each position’s role and responsibilities:
Artistic Director: The AD holds regular Board meetings, provides guidance and assistance for directors, and represents the interests of Cap & Bells to the college and beyond.
Technical Director: The TD provides guidance, assistance, and direction of all technical aspects of Cap & Bells productions—including set construction, props, lighting, sound, and costumes.
Assistant Technical Director: The Assistant TD supports the TD and works with the TD to provide guidance, assistance, and direction of all technical aspects of Cap & Bells productions—including set construction, props, lighting, sound, and costumes.
Production Manager: The PM leads communication with the Production Manager of the Williams College Theatre Department, coordinates the needs of individual Cap & Bells shows with the Technical Director, and provides guidance and assistance to directors and stage managers on all production aspects.
Assistant Production Manager: The Assistant PM supports the PM and works with the PM to facilitate communication with the Production Manager of the Williams College Theatre Department, coordinate the needs of individual Cap & Bells shows with the Technical Director, and provide guidance and assistance to directors and stage managers on all production aspects.
Treasurer: The Treasurer keeps the budget for the Cap & Bells season and each production, oversees all expenditures, and provides regular budget reports to the Board, documenting reimbursements and deposits of ticket sales.
Publicity Manager: The Publicity Manager publicizes Cap & Bells auditions and performances, communicates information to the Williams community through WSO and Daily Messages and other media, maintains the Cap & Bells website along with an optional Webmaster responsible for maintaining the Cap & Bells website. Duties include period news postings, keeping show information current, and managing online audition sign-up sheets.
Secretary: The Secretary keeps minutes of Board meetings, provides the minutes to the Board members, manages the Cap & Bells Listserv, and keeps records of Cap & Bells membership and events
Junior Board Member: The Junior Board Members work with the Board in a variety of capacities supporting everyone listed above and head-up new initiatives and programs.
