Noah Schechter ’12 (Artistic Director) first worked with Cap & Bells in their production of The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) in the fall of his freshman year and has been working as a director, actor, and designer since. He is a proud member of Combo Za Improv, DHS sketch comedy, and a former employee of the Williams College Summer Theater Lab and is honored to serve as Artistic Director for the 2011-2012 season. He is constantly trying to make theater that is compelling and challenging for student performers and audiences and to create work that begins in a place of fascination and wonder.
Mattie Mitchell ’12 (Production Manager) works primarily in stage management and costuming for Cap & Bells. Despite not being a major, she sometimes forgets that she does in fact have housing outside the 62 Center’s lobby area. In her personal life, she is a proud Ravenclaw who lives on a happy diet of tea, chocolate and stress. When not swooning over the many scheduling benefits of Google calendar, she enjoys sewing, reading ancient languages, and giving other people hugs.
Carl Whipple ’12 (Technical Director) has been working in the theatrical underpinnings for several years now, and counts among his best credits in positions ranging from pure carpentry to design as: Urinetown (Broomfield High School 2007), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (C&B 2010), Dr. Faustus (C&B 2010), Tragedy: a Tragedy (C&B 2011), Gross Indecency (C&B 2011), and As You Like It (Shakespeare & Company 2011).
Emily Ciavarella ’13 (Assistant Production Manager) wrote for and performed in Cap and Bells’ production “Thoughts on a Subject,” and the rest is history. When she’s not acting as Mattie’s lady-in-waiting, she’s fulfilling her theatre major requirements and planning parties for Williams Catholic. She likes acting for the same reason Oscar Wilde does: “It is so much more real than life.”
Cate McCrea ’13 (Assistant Technical Director) has worn many hats for Cap & Bells, including stage manager, lighting designer, and set designer. She’s excited to begin work as the Assistant Technical Director for the upcoming season, and looks forward to another year of making awesome student theatre! If you’re interested in working with C&B on the technical side of things, Cate’s the one to contact with any questions!
Frank Pagliaro ’14 (Secretary) is an English and History major from Cape Cod. He fell in love with theatre after a “Creative Movement” class at the Harwich Junior Theatre that he took when he was five years old. He also loves the New York Yankees and The Sopranos.
Tallis Moore ’14 (Treasurer), the Ben Bernanke of Cap & Bells, first worked with C&B in Dr. Faustus in his freshman fall, and performed as Oscar Wilde in Gross Indecency: the Three Trials of Oscar Wilde later in the year. He’s a proud member of Summer Theatre Lab 2011.
Sarah Sanders ’14 (Publicity Manager) loves posters and gets very excited about fonts. Her favorite Williams theatrical experiences so far include performing in Frosh Revue 2010 and Immediate Theatre’s original Betty White: The Musical. She is also a card-carrying member of Good Question a cappella and Summer Theatre Lab 2011.
Lizzie Stern ’14 (Junior Board) realized her passion for theatre at the tender age of 8, when she made her day-camp debut as a neurotic 70-year-old woman. She is proud to have since moved onward and upward–being a 2011 Summer Theatre Lab company member, assistant-directing Betty White: The Musical, stage-managing A Streetcar Named Desire, and performing in Frosh Revue. This fall, she is directing Frosh Revue and set-designing Metamorphoses.
Scott Wieman ’14 (Junior Board) is heavily involved in not only Cap & Bells but also the outing club. As of now, he intends to major in both chemistry and math, but isn’t set on where that will actually go. As part of Cap and Bells, he’s dedicated himself to lighting and other aspects of tech work.
